Mosiah 18:8, "now as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another's burdens, that they may be light;
Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as a witness of God at all times, in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection that ye may have eternal life-
Now I say unto you, if this be the desire of your heart, what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, his commandments, that he may pour out his spirit more abundantly upon you?

I love this scripture it shows the righteous hearts these people had. They had a desire to be part of Gods fold, were willing to bear each other's burdens and be there for others. I think one of the most important parts is they are willing to"stand as a witness of God at all times, in all things, and in all places".

  • Why is it so hard for some and so natural or easy for others to have righteous desires? Is it just who we are, who God made us? Is it because of the lives we've lived? Becuase of the parents and the kind of examples they set for us? The movies or entertainment we were/are exposed to?
Then it says in verse 11, "this was the desire of (their) hearts".

What kind of desires do we have today and are they righteous desires or are they based on worldly things?

Mosiah 18:18,"Alma, having authority from God,"
I love this verse because people don't believe that God gives authority to people and yet Alma had to have authority to baptize all these people. Don't you think people still have to have authority to act in Gods name?
I think a lot of people just think authority has to be accepted by their congregation or those they teach but, in reality, it's given to men (Priesthood) by God if one is living their lives right.

18:26; The priests were asked to labor, and told that they would wax strong in the Spirit, having the knowledge of God, (That's a powerful blessing. I want to live my life in a way that I can have blessings upon me that can help change others and bring others to Christ.
By having the knowledge of God you can do a lot of things that can improve your life and the lives of many around you, To go with that they taught with power and authority from God. Which is what our leaders today do as well as our righteous missionaries.

"how beautiful are they to the eyes of them who there came to the knowledge of their Redeemer; yea and how blessed are they,"
I feel like today we have to have more than a knowledge of our Savior. We must truly know Him and have a relationship with Him. It takes effort on our part which a lot of people don't like to put forth or do anymore with so much at their fingertips. But it weeds out the faithful with the faithless.

There is a lot we can learn and improve on and as we humbly seek guidance, direction and council we will be able to better understand God's will for ourselves, those around us and maybe other things God is willing to reveal to us in our righteousness.

Blessing: I'm able to recongnize the spirit; although it is something I can work on.
