In starting The Book of Mormon over again it's amazing the strength and power it gives to those who read it. As I read the introductions, the testimonies, and the brief explanation this morning I was able to again receive that witness from the Holy Ghost that the Gospel contained in this book is the word of God. I know that He worked through the prophet Joseph Smith in order to translate His words so His children could receive the fullness of His gospel.
Joseph Smith suffered and died for this Gospel just as our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for this gospel. They were both called of God at different times, both persecuted by those who didn't and still don't believe and yet never denied the truth and what they knew to be truth.
While reading this it makes me think about testimonies and the strength they give and can give to each of us as we learn of the gospel and have a desire and pure heart in the learning of it. Often times I think there is confusion on what a testimony truly is. On my mission, my mission President told us that it is not a "thank-a-mony" nor is it story time.
Testimony- A solemn declaration or affirmation made for the purpose of establishing or proving some fact. Such affirmation in judicial proceedings, may be verbal or written, but must be under oath.testimony differs from evidence; testimony is the declaration of a witness, and evidence is the effect of that declaration on the mind, or the degree of light which it affords.
If we pay attention to how our leaders during General conference bear their testimonies at the end of every talk it is so powerful and straight to the point. Their testimonies strengthen others every single day. Do ours? How can we change them to strengthen those around us? What do I know vs what do I believe? Knowledge is stronger than a belief in things. If you do not know yet then work towards that knowledge.
Blessing: I have amazing skin and have been blessed with health.
