1 Nephi 3:7; Nephi was promised that the way will be prepared for him. but before that, he said; "I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded."
We need to be willing to show God our obedience and willingness towards Him, His plan, and what He wants us to do before He promises us anything. God will always come through with His promises its us that need to follow through with our end of the deal.

Nephi was able to "persuade" his brothers to "be faithful in keeping the commandments of God."
But if he wouldn't have been doing that exact thing it wouldn't have been so easy to persuade his brothers.

An angel appears to them after Laman and Lemuel were hitting Nephi and it still doesn't change their hearts. Their father is a prophet of God as well and their hearts are still hard and they will not listen. What does it take for me to truly believe and understand God and His will for me?
