Alma 32:5, "Yea, O God, and thou wast merciful unto me when I did cry unto thee in my field; when I did cry unto thee in my prayer, and thou didst hear me."
-How can we better recognize the Lord in my life and when He hears and answers our prayers? And be more thankful for things that He is probably protecting us from by not giving us what we want?
(Alma 33:19) What simple things are we asked to do that we don't do?
Then we are asked to plant the word in our hearts (vs 23) and nourish it by our faith.
Promise: (Alma 33:23) "that your burdens may be light, through the joy of his Son."
(Alma 34:11) "Now there is not any man that can sacrifice his own blood which will atone for the sins of another."
This is a powerful statement. I think the wording is interesting because it says no man can sacrifice his own blood.
can- To be able; to have sufficient strength or physical power. One man can lift a weight which another can not.
Putting the definition of can in there makes it more personal to me. None of us don't have the power, strength or relationship with our Father in Heaven to perform such a task as this. But Christ did and He did it for each of us without thinking twice about it.
Alma 34:29, "be charitable"
We are are asked to "repent and harden not your hearts, immediately shall the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you." (Alma 34:31)
I liked this verse I've never really noticed it before like I just did. It asks us to repent and to not harden our hearts. Which at first I thought "well ya, that's great.". But the more I think about it the more I realize I od this. When I don't get what I want I harden my heart and don't want to listen to anyone and even kind of want to bask in my misery.
"...the Lord hath said he dwelleth not in unholy temples, but in the hearts of the righteous doth he dwell;"...the Lord hath said he dwelleth not in unholy temples, but in the hearts of the righteous doth he dwell;" (Alma 34:36)
-Am I living in such a way that the spirit would want to dwell with me? What kinds of things do I need to change if not?
Blessing: The church knows and understands the need for continuous nourishment (the word of God and hearing from our leaders), Ensign.
