"remember that were it not for these plates, which contain these records and these commandments, we must have suffered in ignorance, even at this present time, not knowing the mysteries of God." (Mosiah 1:3)

We need to remember this and take our daily studies of the scriptures more seriously instead of just reading a verse to say we read our scriptures for the day. God has put for records on earth to testify of who He is and what He can and will do for us if we live according to what he has asked.

"'A mystery is a truth that cannot be known except through divine revelation a sacred secret. In the days of Paul the important truth that Gentiles were to be admitted to the Kingdom of God without observing the Law of Moses was a 'mystery' (Eph. 1:9-11; Col. 1:25-27). In our day such great truths as those pertaining to the restoration of the Priesthood, the work for the dead, and the re-establishment of the Church are 'mysteries,' because they could not have been discovered except by revelation.' (Hyrum M. Smith and Janne M. Sjodahl, The Doctrine and Covenants Commentary, p. 141)*

By "not knowing the mysteries of God." Which means saving principles we aren't living the gospel or performing any of God's saving ordinances.

The Book of Mormon is the word of God and should be treated as such, not just as a history or some good stories. We need to study, ponder, and pray about the the doctrine in this book given to us by God and truly change our lives according to it.

Blessing; I was able to go to institute yesterday!
