Nephi was continuously receiving strength from our Father in Heaven to do as he was asked to do in order to fulfill God's commandments. vs 6
Nephi's brothers tell him that "the Lord maketh no such things known unto us."(1 Nephi 15:9) I think they knew within themselves that they were not worthy to have the spirit in order to receive the answer they were seeking.
It has been promised that the Lord will answer our prayers.
I love in Richard G. Scott in his talk 'Learning to Recognize Answer to Prayer' from 1989 he says these things concerning prayer, "When answers to urgent prayer don’t seem to come, it can be that we don’t understand some truths about prayer, or because we don’t recognize answers when they come."
Then he goes on later in the talk and says, "When we explain a problem and a proposed solution, sometimes He answers yes, sometimes no. Often He withholds an answer, not for lack of concern, but because He loves us—perfectly. He wants us to apply truths He has given us. For us to grow, we need to trust our ability to make correct decisions. We need to do what we feel is right. In time, He will answer. He will not fail us."
He goes on by telling us that this is how ourFather in Heaven answers our prayers; "When He answers yes, it is to give us confidence. When He answers no, it is to prevent error. When He withholds an answer, it is to have us grow through faith in Him, obedience to His commandments, and a willingness to act on truth. We are expected to assume accountability by acting on a decision that is consistent with His teachings without prior confirmation. We are not to sit passively waiting or to murmur because the Lord has not spoken. We are to act. "
When we pray and seek for answers we are promised that we will know the truth and be able to recognize it. (1 Nephi15:14)
Blessing: God does know what I need and gives it to me instead of what I want even when I continuously pray for what I want and am not receiving.
