Nephi says "and I did pray oft unto the Lord;"
"Nephi was a man of prayer.  He instructed those of our generation to 'pray always,' and 'not [to] perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ' (2 Nephi 32:9). 

 Laman and Lemuel tie Nephi up and it seems that it really made life easier for Nephi because He was died to the boat and didn't have to worry about being thrown around during the storm he even says in vs 13, "nevertheless they did not loose me."

 Blessing: I have the Holy Ghost with me leading me and guiding me to do the Fathers will.
