The story of the Jaredites is amazing. First, they build these bardges that I wonder how they were built, and what they looked like. I found this online. It's someone's idea of what they might have looked like. https://www.google.com/search?q=jaredite+barges+found&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=643&site=webhp&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwibgdWihdDNAhUEHGMKHXJJBCgQ_AUIBigB#imgrc=HzUN42w41dmqNM%3A They were in the water traveling for 344 days, that's almost a year. The people wanted a king so Orihah was appointed, " Orihah did walk humbly before the Lord, and did remember how great thing the Lord had done for his father, and also taught his people how great things the Lord had done for their fathers." How can we better "walk humbly before the Lord," "remember how great things the Lord had done" and teach others of the things the Lord does? It is important as well to pray about our leaders and not just accept...
The brother of Jared was " redeemed from the fall " (Ether 3:13) because of his faith in the Lord. Redeem-  To purchase back; to ransom; to liberate or rescue from captivity or bondage, or from any obligation or liability to suffer or to be forfeited, by paying an equivalent; as, to  redeem  prisoners or captured goods; to  redeem  a pledge. The brother of Jared, in Ether 3:19 it says, "he had faith no longer, for he knew, nothing doubting."  That is an amazing scripture. I have the desire to be like that and not doubt anything and know. We must start with faith though and continuously try to strengthen our faith especially in the hard times.  Ether 4: 12   And whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do good is of me; for  good  cometh of none save it be of me. I am the same that leadeth men to all good; he that will not believe my  words will not believe me—that I am; and he that will not  believe me will not believe the Fat...

The brother of Jared told the people to "cry unto the Lord" (Ether 1:37).  Crying is more than just saying your prayers because it's a habit and it's what we do every day. Crying is truly opening up our mind and soul to our Father in Heaven in a way that we don't do with anyone else. In order to gain or strengthen our relationship with Him we need to truly cry and open our hearts and minds to Him. Then later in vs 38 he says to the people, "let us be faithful".  So we need to pray unto the Lord and then be faithful in all He asks us to do and I think especially in our relationship with Him. Faithful -  Firm in adherence to the truth and to the duties of religion,  True; exact; in conformity to the letter and spirit; as a  faithful  execution of a will. Father in Heaven preserved America for the coming forth of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He couldn't have brought forth the gospel in any other way. I love that the Brother...
The Lord has given us this special gift and blessing of having the scriptures to read and study out of in order to do as he has planned and commanded for us to return to Him. If we don't take the time to do so then we are showing God we don't cherish His gifts and blessings. -How often do we seek for answers online instead of through the scriptures and prayer? Where do all true answers really come from? Mormon 8:28:32, these verses are interesting to me because they talk about other churches led by Satan. It makes me wonder if Satan organized these other churches in order to confuse more of God's churches and like he always does present truths and lies in order to lead God's people astray. Mormon 9:7-8, "And again I speak unto you who deny the revelations ofGod, and say that they are done away, that there are no revelations, nor prophecies, nor gifts, nor healing, nor speaking with tongues, and the interpretations of tongues;  Behold I say unto you, he that de...

"that the seed of this people may more fully believe his gospel" Mormon 5:15 What would it take and what can I do to help people " more fully believe his gospel" ? " they had Christ for their shepherd;" (Mormon 5:17) You couldn't ask for a better shepherd, leader or protector than Christ himself. "... how could ye have rejected that Jesus, who stood with open arms to receive you !" (Mormon 6:17) Christ is willing and ready to help us and to lead and guide us to our Father in Heaven. But the part that isn't fun or easy is that we have to submit our will to Him. Christ knows all, he's been through it all and if we are willing to allow Him to take a bigger part in our lives then it will make our lives easier and will allow our relationship with Him to grow. As we allow Him to lead us and to be that shepherd that He has promised He would be to lead us to righteousness and back to our Father in Heaven. Blessing: I have amazing ...
Mormon 3:2-3, " And it came to pass that the Lord did say unto me: Cry unto the people-- Repent ye, and come unto me, and be ye baptized, and build up again my church, and ye shall be spared.  And I did cry unto this people, but it was in vain; and they did not realize that it was the Lord that had spared them, and granted unto them a chance for repentance . And behold they did harden their hearts against the Lord their God." - Who did they think gave them repentance if it wasn't the Lord? How did they know or feel they were forgiven of the their sins? Blessing- God put Vivian in my life when I needed a friend.
The people started to be wicked because things weren't going the way they wanted them to. It's interesting that most people pull away from God and turn to Satan who gives the people nothing in return for following or worshiping them. Why would that make it easier to sin? People won't do anything for nothing today either so why follow Satan and get temporary satisfaction? I like this story because it is a good lesson on recognizing sin and not even messing with it. Boy and the RattleSnake Story   A little boy was walking down a path and he came across a rattlesnake. The rattlesnake was getting old. He asked, "Please little boy, can you take me to the top of the mountain? I hope to see the sunset one last time before I die." The little boy answered "No Mr. Rattlesnake. If I pick you up, you'll bite me and I'll die." The rattlesnake said, "No, I promise. I won't bite you. Just please take me up to the mountain." The little bo...
what does it take to be a " true believer in Christ" ? (4 Nephi 1:36) What do we need to do, change, become? I think it takes more than just words and simple actions. I think to be a true believer it takes dedication and work. To be a true believer would mean to me to desire a relationship with Christ, you can't really believe in something or someone you don't know. Having a relationship or being in a relationship takes a lot of work. Christ is always willing and ready for us to come to Him so it's not hard on our part and doesn't take much work. We have to be willing to get to know Him and learn of Him. I'm thankful for His example and for the perfect example He set for us. I'm reading Jesus the Christ right now and it truly gives me a greater appreciation, and love for my Savior and all He did and still does for me today. Blessing: I have a Savior that knows and loves me perfectly.
They prophecy of the coming of the Book of Mormon and the importance of it. I think it's interesting that they prophecy of this and it doesn't come for years and years later and yet they still put it in here. That is a good testimony and witness to me of 4th Nephi is amazing to me the change the people took, they formed a church, repented and had a desire to be baptized. That isn't the most amazing part to me, though, I love in vs 3, " And they had all things common among them;"   I wish it was like this more today, although it couldn't be or we wouldn't have the society and amazing growth we have in the United States. Classes are important so the poor have jobs from the wealthy, but I don't like the attitude and hard feelings that come from it. Blessing: I have a love for work that I developed from my amazing parents.
Christ commands the people to name the church in His name. It shows how sacred His name is and how we should look at it. We are commanded to stand before God spotless but that wouldn't be possible if it weren't for Christ. We know what we are supposed to do and what it takes and we also have the perfect example to follow. -3 Nephi 28:34 -Matt 26:24 -Mark 14:21 God allows us to see miracles but it is our responsibility to believe and to act on the knowledge we receive from them and to change lives. Blessing: I am getting good hours for work that keeps me busy.
"And he shall turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." God wants all of his people to be as one and turn their hearts to each other and toward him. We can better do this by following and obeying all his laws and commandments. "if it shall so be that they shall believe these things then shall the greater things be made manifest unto them." (3 Nephi 26:9) We must believe in the things that our Father in Heaven has promised us will come and if we do this we are promised that " greater things " will be "manifest unto" us. (3 Nephi 9) Blessing: My clients are awesome and they make my job so much fun.
(3 Nephi 22:10) "my kindness shall not depart from thee," vs 14; "In righteousness shalt thou be established;"  We have a perfect example that we are able to follow; because He is kind and perfect we can know what it takes and what we need to do in order to become more perfect and like him. When we are kind it is easier to be righteous and obedient. We need to make sure we are paying our tithing and fast offerings because otherwise we are stilling from God. We already probably don't do enough to deserve the blessings we get and if we aren't paying back what we owe then we aren't being honest. Blessing: God gives us so many ways to receive blessings that are so simple.
Jesus Christ told to people to not cease to pray. I truly wonder how they hear and answer every person's prayer. I know they are God's but still there are a lot of people on this earth. Do they listen to those who don't believe in them? or believe in another god? probably.  Then the gospel preached in its fullness is talked about. It talks about repenting, being baptized and coming unto Christ. I think often times we forget the imprtance of these kind of things and the impact it can and does truly have on our lives.  " with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. "  (3 Nephi 22:8) How can I strive to have everlasitng kindness? What would that take? Blessing: we have had beautiful weather lately.
"And this shall ye always observe to do," talking about partaking of the sacrament. "pray always unto the father in my name." (3 Nephi 18:19) " hold up your light that it may shine unto the world ." (18:24) How can we better hold up our lights and shine? How can we be a better light and want to be a light unto the world? It's important to be a light and an example to those around us but it's also not always easy to do. 3 Nephi 18:32, "...ye know not but what they will return and repent, and come unto me with full purpose of heart, and shall heal them; and ye shall be the means of bringing salvation unto them." -I love this scripture because it is totally missionary work at it's finest. It's promising us that we can be a part of God's great work in bringing others salvation through Christ in order to return to live with God again. Christ prays to God on the people's behalf (3 Nephi 19:27-28), it makes me wonder how...
Christ tells the people in 3 Nephi 17:2 after he spoke to them, "i perceive that ye are weak, that ye cannot understand all my words which I am commanded of the father to speak unto you at this time." Does this happen often? I believe it does, I believe that if we arent' prepared when we got to General Conference, stake conference, church each week that we won't understand the things that are being taught and therefore will be in the same state that they were. Jesus prays among the people and they can't hear him and don't know what he says. I wonder if he gave them (the group) a blessing before he departed. There were a lot of people there with Christ it makes me wonder how many of them truly believed and changed their lives because of it. Blessing: we have had great weather and beautiful nights.
The Law (of Moses) is fulfilled in Christ. "the law in me is fulfilled, for I have come to fulfill the law; therefore it hath an end." (3 Nephi 15: 5) Christ also says, "I am the law and the light. Look unto me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life."  (3 Nephi 15:9) Christ is going to reveal other lost sheep (missionary work). I love these chapters because it goes to show just how much our Savior truly cares about us and loves each and every one of us. He wants us all to return to live with God again and live the laws and commandments that have been given to us for our good. Blessing: My self-esteem has gone up significantly since I've been dating Quenton.
3 Nephi 11 Christ appears to the Americas and teaches His people as well as is a testimony a pure and true testimony to them of His life, mission and obligations to God. 11:25 is the prayer before you baptize someone, then in 26 it says " then shall ye immerse them in the water, and come forth again out of the water." I love that because the Book of Mormom makes it clear that you don't sprinkle water or anything else but fully immerse them in the water as Christ was baptized. God has a plan for all things if we would but ask and willingly listen to and recieve an answer. Blessing: Last night was amazing and I'm thankful for the blessings of friends and the spirit.
Samual the Lamanite warned the people, they didn't believe in the signs and because they didn't see anything they didn't have faith. Faith is believing without seeing so it isn't easy but it's SO important. 3 Nephi 8:22, " And there was not any light see, neither fire, nor glimmer, neither the sun, nor the moon, nor the stars, for so great were the mists of darkness which was upon the face of the land." Christ appears to the people and tells them that they should stop offering up sacrifices unto Him but, "offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit." (3 Nephi 9:20) "Behold, I have come unto the world to bring redemption unto the world, to save the world from sin." ( 3 N. 9:21) He asks us to repent and come unto him. It's interesting because the things that we are asked to do aren't hard they just take work and effort. But today I feel people don't like to do the work or the effort it takes to c...
The people were not only " humble and penitent" but were also " firm and steadfast, and imovable, willing  with all diligence to keep the commandments of the Lord" That is a good example to all of us to be humble, penitent, firm, steadfast and imovable. I think the big part in this is that they were willing.  We much be willing and able to do all things and to be a servent of our Lord God. "...so great was his (Nephi) faith on the Lord Jesus Christ that Angels did minister to him daily." (3 Nephi 7:18) They were righteous people into the Lord. Blessing: I'm thankful for tissues when I have a cold.
Why is it so hard for us to be righteous and exactly obedient? It seems we always sin in ways we know we shouldn't then seek for forgiveness.  Why don't we do more provention practices?  They "did serve God with all diligence day and night." We need to focus our lives more on serving God then on the worldly things of life.  "Then shall they be gathered in from the four quarters of the earth into their own lands," We are responsible for doing missionary work, not just serving missions but being member missionaries as well.  Blessing- I am staying busy with work and getting lots of hours.
The Lamanites began to decrease in their faith and righteousness because of their "rising generations". The Lord allows us to sin and to make mistakes but He also knows there are consequences for our actions and therefore has given us commandments and laws to live by. It's interesting how often people still fall away even with guidance and direction. Why is it we pray harder when we are in a tough spot? Why don't we have a desire all the time to seek God and His help? Blessing: There are computers at work so I can still get work done since I left my laptop cord home. :(
