Ignominious -(IGNOMIN'IOUS, adjective [Latin ignominiosus. See Ignominy.])
1. Incurring disgrace; cowardly; of mean character.
Then with pale fear surprised,
2. Very shameful; reproachful; dishonorable; infamous. To be hanged for a crime is ignominious Whipping, cropping and branding are ignominious punishments.
3. Despicable; worthy of contempt; as an ignominious projector.

What kind of dedication does it take from us to be like the people and be "steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of God," and to "...bear with patience the percecutions where were heaped upon them."

Comely (COMELY, adjective)

1. Properly, becoming; suitable: whence, handsome; graceful. Applied to person or form, it denotes symmetry or due proportion, but it expresses less than beautiful or elegant.

This is how we should live; "they did not send away any...having no respect to persons as to those who stood in need." (Alma 1:30)

- These people were willing to help everyone and to serve whoever God put in their path.

Are we willing to do this? What can we improve or how can we change our mind to do this more often?

I really like these quotes, they inspire me to do better and be better.

George F. Richards said,

"The Lord expects us when he blesses us with the good things of this earth to remember those who are not so fortunate. We are to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick, comfort those who mourn, and minister unto those who are poor and needy, and thus become of that class to whom the Lord, when he shall come, shall say: 'Come, ye blessed of the Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.'" John Taylor said,

"I will promise the Latter-day Saints that if they will go into these things allowing God to dictate in the interests of Israel and the building up of his Zion on the earth, and take themselves and their individual interests out of the question, feeling they are acting for him and his kingdom, they will become the wealthiest of all people, and God will bless them and pour out wealth and intelligence and all the blessings that earth can afford." (Journal of Discourses, vol. 20, p. 164)

Alma 2:12 What is a cimeter?

Experts have determined that a cimeter is a curved, ax-like weapon commonly represented in the art of the period. It has a near-Eastern corollary in the scimitar.

The Nephites were strengthened when it was time to go into war because they had been "praying mightily" we needd to be prepared both physically and spiritually when we go into our own personal wars with Satan on a daily basis. Satan is ready and armed always to go to war and fight against all that is right, are we ready to fight for it?
