Today I was reading in Mosiah about Abinadi chapters 16-18 and I couldn't help but think about the difference he made in his life and he didn't even know about it. He worked so hard as a missionary and got one convert out of the hold thing. But with this one convert it truly made a big difference. Some of the questions I was thinking about or that came to my head when I was reading were:
What are ways today that we can stand as a witness?
What does your heart desire?
What must we do to gain eternal life? What are the most important things?
Then I was thinking about authority and how important it is to have it in order to perform the ordinances we need to return to life back with our Father in Heaven like baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost and then later to go through the temple and gain greater knowledge. In these chapters it also mentioned a lot about power and authority. Whenever I think of these I always think of my mission and how many people in the world don't understand that the power and authority MUST come from our Father in Heaven. That we can't just wake up one day and decide that we are going to become a preacher or forgive sins of other and then go to school get a degree and do it. On my mission we asked people what they would do if someone tried to pull them over without having the right authority? Would they pull over and if they did what would they do if they officer tired to give them a ticket? Would they take it? No. Because they don't have the authority to give tickets just like not just anyone has the authority to baptize or do similar ordinances. Repentance, redemption and faith are so important to our eternal salvation and to who we are and become. Just thinking of Jesus Christ and all the many things that He did for me. It is amazing that He loves each of us, even me, so much that He would die for me. It makes me think of the Hymn "I stand all amazed" He truly was a perfect person. Yesterday in my Family and Community Relationships class we were talking about the attributes of Christ and the many things He did in His life. Also in my Stress and Coping class we spoke of qualities that we want our children to develop. Following Christ's example and being an example to others around us.
Our beloved Prophet President Thomas S. Monson said in April 2005, "Be thou an example of the believers, in work, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."

Sometimes I feel like the war chapters never end. As soon as they end, here they are again. I read chapters 19-21 this morning. This might be short because I have to go to ward council in an hour. But in these chapters the Lamanite daughters are kidnapped by the priests of Noah and they falsley accuse the Limhi and his people for taking them. The Lamanites and King Limhi are converted and are humbled, they enter "into a covenant with God to serve him and keep his commandments."
They are also baptized and have a change of heart. I think it is interesting that in life so many times it takes a large event or trial to make us change our hearts. Why? Why can't we just live as God would have us without making Him put this trials and hardships upon us? Also why is it so hard for us to watch others achieve amazing things in their lives? I think it defiantly depends on what it is but I feel like there are a lot of times that we hate watching others succeed.
At the end of these chapters it talks a lot about their desire to be baptized as a witness and their willingness to serve God with all their hearts. What are some ways we can better do that? How can we truly have a change in our hearts and truly want to serve God better. How can we make the time do serve Him? That is something I really need to work on is serving others and truly being Christ's hand in my calling and my life.

During church some of the thoughts I got from Sacrament meeting were: that I need to be open in my prayers with my Father in Heaven and open my heart to His plan. I need to trust and pray that our plans for my life are the same. I need to seek out ways to strengthen others and lift them.
We must be on higher ground to lift someone.
Good * Better * Best
I read to chapter 24 today after church when the people want a king and the Lord tells them, " if it were possible they they could always have just men..." as their kings then they could. To be just means to behave according to what is morally right and fair, which is hard to find. Mosiah 23:21 "Nevertheless the Lord seeth fit to chasten (which means to inflict by punishment) his people; yea, be trieth their patience and their faith.
The biggest lesson I took out reading these chapters though was in verse 22, "Nevertheless- whosoever putteth his trust in him the same shall be lifted up in the last day." That is something I am good at sometimes and other times not so much. It is hard to trust people and because of the things I've been through as far as dating and life it's hard to always trust others. I do trust God but I also need to learn to trust Him more then I do.

I was reading in ch 23 today in Mosiah and I love that the Lord listen to all of our prayers and thoughts. It talks a lot about the people pouring their hearts to Him in prayer. In Chapter 23 verse 21 it talks about the Lord chasten his people so that he can try their patience and their faith. It's interesting how often He does that and it is so frustrating because to us it seems like it's at the most inconvenient times but He knows better. Later in chapter 24 it talks again about the people pouring their hearts out to God and says, "he did know the thoughts of their hearts." I just think it is so neat that he can listen to our thoughts especially at times when we can't pray out loud to him.

In chapter 26 it talks about Alma talking to the Lord about what he needs to do and really consulting with him to what he needs to do. I says, "he went and inquired of the Lord what he should do concerning this manner," I think I need to do that more often. I have been very emotional lately and have been really down on myself and I think I really need to talk to my Father in Heaven to understand his plan for me. In vs 16 it says that they have "exceeding faith". What does it take to have that kind of faith? how can I gain more faith in God's plan for me? I need to listen closer to His voice and be more righteous so that I am worthy to hear Him trying to talk to me.
The word freely means to generous amounts. it talks about Christ freely forgiving, He is such a merciful and understanding God.
He also says, "as often as my people will repent will I forgive them their trespasses against me." He is patient with us for our mistakes and our short comings. It is a good thing because I complain a lot and make a lot of mistakes every day. I also need to pray without ceasing like it says in vs 39 of ch 26, always be talking to God and Jesus Christ, have constant communication with them. They are more important then anyone else is to have a relationship with. I need to do better at being the RS President and spend more time serving others then I have. I have been meaning to do so many things and haven't made the time. It is my time to serve and it's given to me so I need to take advantage of it.
Blessing: I am thankful for Brielle. It being her birthday I am so blessed to have her as such an amazing little sister. She is the sweetest.
