In Helaman they are fighting the the Laminites take over Zarahemla. Why is it that as children of God we desire such unrighteousness and desire to have so much power of our brotheren?

It's interesting that in chapter 7 the Laman and Lemual didn't complain about going back to Jerusalem the second time to get Ishmael and his family in order to obtain wives. I think often we complain easily about things unless we benefit or get something out of the deal. -Nephi is questioning his brothers on how they could forget the many miracles the Lord has done on their behalf and still they sin and rebel. I thought, though, how often does the Lord help me and yet I am not thankful, I complain and want more or something different? Nephi asks his brothers how they could " have forgotten what great things the Lord hath done for us, " I think this is one reason we are asked repeatedly by the brethren to go to church, partake of the sacrament, study the scriptures, say our prayers, go to the temple... 3 Nephi 7:16, "began to testify boldly, repentance and remission of sins through faith on the Lord Jesus Christ. " - What is the difference in having faith "on the Lord Jesus Christ" and in the Lord Jesus Christ? https://www.lds.org/topics/faith?lang=eng&old=true  says, Having faith in Jesus Christ means relying completely on Him — trusting in His infinite power, intelligence, and love. Hartman Rector Jr. "The prophet Mormon stated very plainly what I like to call the qualification for the performance of miracles. It is recorded in 3 Nephi...'there was not any man who could do a miracle in the name of Jesus save he were cleansed every whit from his iniquity.' "So this is the qualification: we must be cleansed every whit from our iniquity. When I first read this passage of scripture, I felt to say 'Hurray for repentance!' for if it were not for repentance, there would be no miracles performed."
